Wheeling Man, Others Charged In West Virginia Drug Ring

CLARKSBURG, West Virginia - Seven people have been charged with being part of a group that federal prosecutors say has been dealing crack cocaine in north-central West Virginia and using a Morgantown house as its base of operations.

West Virginia authorities were still searching Monday for 11 others suspected of participating in the conspiracy, including four people known only by their nicknames: Brat, Bear, Choke and Cash.

The investigation spanned about 12 months, and U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Johnston called the arrests part of a continuing drug-trafficking crackdown.

"These indictments should send a message to others who are involved in distribution of controlled substances that the drug trade is not welcome here," he said.

The indictments refer to drug deals conducted between May and December 2003.

Arrested last week and indicted by a U.S. grand jury on various charges were: Kenneth R. Buzzo, 42, and Tisha Morales, 21, both of Morgantown; Michael John Jackson, 24, of Wheeling; Jillian F. Huenke, 19, of Franklinville, N.J.; and Wayne Clark DeBerry, 29, Timothy Marklowe, 30, and Christopher Jared Singleton, 36, all of Clarksburg.

Along with the unidentified suspects, Johnston said authorities plan to arrest: Dreena Birch, 43, and Kristen Davis, 29, both of Clarksburg; Jamal Martin Eddings and Joel Michael Eddings, both 22 and of Uniontown, Pa.; Omar Alberto Jack, 22, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and Amelia Dawn Miller, 34, and Dupre E. Phillips, 21, both of Morgantown.
